Privacy Policy
WordWise Privacy Policy
WordWise helps English learners save, organize, and review vocabulary. This policy explains what information WordWise collects, how it is used, and how you can contact us about your data.
Information We Collect
WordWise may collect the following information when you use the app:
- Account information, such as your email address, display name, and authentication identifiers used to sign in.
- Vocabulary content you save or create, including words, idioms, phrases, AI explanations, tags, vocabulary-bank progress, flashcard decks, review history, and related study settings.
- App preferences, such as learner level, native language, pronunciation voice, vocabulary layout, reminder settings, and time zone.
- Technical information needed to operate the service, such as request timestamps, AI usage counts, cache status, and error information.
How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Create and manage your WordWise account.
- Save and sync your vocabulary, tags, settings, and flashcards.
- Generate and store AI-enhanced vocabulary explanations.
- Personalize explanations and study features to your settings.
- Support offline-friendly use through local cached data.
- Apply usage limits, maintain reliability, and troubleshoot issues.
- Respond to support requests you send by email.
AI Processing
When you request a new vocabulary explanation, WordWise sends the vocabulary text and relevant learning settings to a server-side vocabulary service. That service may use Google Gemini to generate the explanation. The AI API key is kept on the server and is not stored in the mobile app.
Third-Party Services
WordWise uses third-party services to provide core app functionality:
- Supabase, for authentication, database storage, server functions, and syncing app data.
- Google authentication, when you choose to sign in with a Google account.
- Google Gemini, for AI-enhanced vocabulary explanations.
- Apple iOS notification services, for local flashcard reminder notifications when you enable reminders.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.
Local Storage and Offline Use
WordWise stores some account, vocabulary, settings, tags, and flashcard data locally on your device so the app can load faster and support offline-friendly study. Local cached data may remain on your device until you sign out, delete the app, or the app replaces older cached records.
Notifications
If you enable flashcard reminders, WordWise may schedule local iOS notifications to remind you when cards are due. You can manage notification permission in iOS Settings and reminder settings in the app.
Retention and Deletion
We keep account and study data for as long as needed to provide WordWise, maintain the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. You can request deletion of your WordWise account and associated app data by emailing us.
To request deletion, email eegii.mgl@gmail.com from the email address associated with your WordWise account, or include enough information for us to verify the account.
Children
WordWise is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it when appropriate.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as WordWise changes. When we make changes, we will update the effective date on this page.
